The Indian lifestyle is famous for its healthy food habits. You will be surprised to know that the daily intake of food is not very high compared to other people in the western world. The daily intake of fruits, fresh vegetables, whole grains and beans are a part of their dietary requirements. The main reason for this is to get rid of obesity and other diseases related to eating junk foods. In fact, the intake of junk foods is so common in the US and many other countries that it has been coined as the America’s Addiction Problem.


A typical Indian meal has ingredients like black gram dal, fried chicken, mutton biryani, and pachadi masala. The most popular Indian dish is surely the Biryani, which is prepared using flat rice. On the other hand, we can also see the westernised version of the Indian meal. In the west, we find the hamburgers, hotdogs, sausages and burgers as staples food. In fact, these foods preserve the dietary fibre and all the antioxidants, which are helpful for the body. A perfect example of such a dish is the rice that is served after dinner.

The fourth staple in the Indian meal is the side dishes. There are different varieties of side dishes, which are prepared with or without vegetables. A perfect example of this is the pachadi (stuffed vegetable) that can be eaten with the main course. The fifth choice of side dishes is the rice that is eaten with the main course in order to maintain the fibre of the Indian meal.
